The wine cellar Villa Melnik is a family owned and run company. It consists of 30 ha of vineyards. The fi rst grape vines were cultivated in 2004. Approximately 20 ha of the vineyards are located in Mindalo around the village of Vinogradi, which lies just 5 km south of Melnik, on the hills of the left bank of the Melnishka River. The rest 10 ha of the vineyards are situated on the Beli breg lands, near the village of Harsovo. The following grape varieties are planted and cultivated there: Broad-Leaf Melnik, Melnik 55, Mavrud and Ruen, as well as Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Syrah, Pinot Noir and Sangiovese, Keratzuda, Muskat blanc a petits grains, Misket Sandanski, Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc and Viognier. In the autumn of 2011, they began the building of a small, modern winery around the area of Beli Breg, with capacity of processing of about 250 tons of grapes and producing 200 000 bottles of wine. The establishment also possesses 300 French and Bulgarian 225 liters oak. Since 2009, Villa Melnik has been using the equipment of the Sintika Winery. The winemaker in charge is Didier Mailh., who works together in a team with Kiril Miladinov and Roumyana Stoilova.
