Domaine Marash

Domaine Marash

Domaine Marash is another new name among the Bulgarian wine producers; it appeared on the market in 2009. The winery is named after the Marash Mountain Pass (Marashki Prohod) in the Balkan Mountains and after a local spot in close vicinity to the town of Straldzha. Its estate spreads over about 50 ha of vineyards situated near the Strandzha Mountain villages of Nedyalsko and Vodenichane. They cultivate grape varieties of Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Syrah, Malbec, Petit Verdot, Pinot Noir, Alicante Bouschet, Chardonnay, Traminer, Muscat Ottonel, Viognier, Semillon and Sauvignon Blanc. The wines are aged in 225 liter or 400 liter French oak barrels. Daniel Nedyalkov is the establishment’s winemaker; his resume includes work with Vinex Preslav. Domain Marash produces dry, as well as semi-dry wines with an emphasis on blended wines. The blended wines are produced following an Australian method using the grape varieties: Chardonnay, Colombard, Semillon and Viognier. The wines stand out with their good price/quality ratio. They are divided into the

following selections: Marash, Lenea, Hedera and Quattro.
