Chateau Burgozone

Chateau Burgozone

The winery is located around the town of Oryahovo, on the banks of the Danube River, just amid 1000 decares (100 ha) of the its newly planted vineyards. The remnants of the ancient Roman fortress Burgozone can be traced within the borders of the vineyards, which was the inspiration for the company’s name. The majority of the soils in the region are humus carbonate. The fi rst vineyards were planted in 2005 with the fi rst vintage being harvested in 2008. The grape varieties are as follows – Chardonnay, Viognier, Sauvignon Blanc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Syrah and Marselan. The French rootstocks used, were cultivated without chemical treatments. There are several grape harvests, which happen according to maturity and then the grapes go through an additional selection process. The wine cellar has the storage capacity of up to 650 000 bottles. It is equipped with modern stainless steel (inox) vats and 225 liter French oak barrels. Quality white and red varietal grape wines are made in limited selections. The Chateau Burgozone sell at higher price points, which are then followed by the Cotes de Danube and Rondo label. At present, the winery is in the process of construction of a hotel, which will provide Chateau Burgozone with tourism opportunities.
